Agricultural Research Service - Northern Plains Area, U.S. Department of Agriculture

ARS conducts research to develop and transfer solutions to agricultural problems of high national priority and provide information access and dissemination to ensure high-quality, safe food, and other agricultural products; assess the nutritional needs of Americans; sustain a competitive agricultural economy; enhance the natural resource base and the environment; and provide economic opportunities for rural citizens, communities, and society as a whole. Area scientists are nationally and internationally recognized leaders whose research programs addresses the entire Agency's mission and all of it goals. We implement the Agency's national programs and assure they are coordinated with similar research in the Agency and in universities, other federal agencies, public entities, and private and international sector institutions. We provide administrative, technical and budget coordination for the Research Units located throughout the Area.
