The Berkeley Startup Cluster

The Berkeley Startup Cluster is operated by a steering committee comprised of representatives from each of the collaborating groups: the City of Berkeley, the Downtown Berkeley Association, the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, and UC Berkeley. While focused on technology-oriented startups, the Berkeley Startup Cluster also encompasses tech-oriented established companies — as these companies are effectively brand name, anchor tenants of the BSC. In addition to giving credibility to the BSC, these established companies provide the funding that supports the BSC community-building events.

LAEDC Cleantech Cluster Project

The LAEDC Cleantech Cluster Project is one of the first efforts to examine the current and potential future state of clean technology in a local economy–with a specific focus on Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technologies. Geographically, the project focuses on Los Angeles County, home to nearly 10 million people, nearly four million wage and salary workers, and over 200,000 private and public establishments.

San Diego Advanced Defense Technology Cluster

The SDADT advanced defense technology management team and its partners and stakeholders, collectively, have established training, education, consulting, and other key business development resources and relationships with additional regional organizations (law firms, federal agencies, etc.) to meet the needs of the small businesses in the San Diego advanced defense technology cluster.

The Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT) at San Diego State University is a technology commercialization and transition collaborative partnership of academia, industry, and government funded by the Office of Naval Research, the Office of Secretary of Defense, and the Department of Homeland Security.

QB3

QB3 promotes partnerships between industry and academia and helps entrepreneurs start successful life sciences companies. By bringing science and entrepreneurship together, the goal of QB3 is to catalyze the formation of startup companies and promote the vitality of the life sciences community in the Bay Area. QB3 manages 5 incubators that host 52 companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. These companies have created more than 280 jobs and attracted over $230 million in financing since 2007.
